Roses........

Iam just thinking about ordering some bare root roses for my garden.......here sitting in the middle of nowhere in a real "pea soup" November night with the moon occasionally poking through the veil of mist..........Iam smelling roses...........I adore roses, old fashioned perfumed English Roses with their big blousy blooms........not only are they good looking in the garden but also on chairs, sofas curtains I could go on. Iam now remebering those wonderfull over the top floral "austrian" rusched blinds that were so popular in the 80's, completely ghastly ! But here are a couple of roses on chairs that I have done, the first Mulberry Home Fabric, then a chair I covered in Kate Forman "Roses" & then  Jane Churchill Rambling Rose

Chesterfield Sofas

In praise of the glorious humble beloved Victorian Chesterfield Sofa......to all those who have used this most glorious piece of furniture for all sorts of things throughtout your life, as a trampoline, as a pretend horse ( the arm), as a warm place by the fire to curl up & go to sleep on.............................
These magnificent sofas that have stood the test of time are once again back in "fashion".........
& I have shown 3 examples using my favourite Mulberry Home Fabrcis, i'd rather have a Mulberry Chesterfield than a Mulbery Handbag.............but there are people lucky enough to have both. Mulberry Chesterfield or Mulberry Handbag or both ?

In praise of Crushed Velvet.......

Today I am mostly "wearing" the wonderfull Carlucci di Chivasso New Glamour Crushed Velvet........the most juicy gorgeous yet sultry upholstery weight crushed velvet....... we are just deciding which colour would make a victorian deep buttoned chesterfield look sensational........& which colour to make a long evening coat.......

22nd Century......

Finally I have been dragged into this century & have been shown how to use blogger..... what a virtual living breathing libary of design, comment, colour & whim from all over the universe.........& all sat in front of my lovely roaring fire in a small rural hamlet in Somerset, South West England.....
This is my life less ordinary............full of structure, colour, comfort, design, texture, traditional materials & lots & lots of memories...........
